Haven't blogged since the last one March 2009, and it's April 2016,
Papua New Guinea is Corrupt Beyond All Repair "COBAR" as I simply put, after FUBAR from the Platoon movie. Honestly, it's a headache thinking about it every day.
Generally, two kinds of people exist here, those that are participating and those that aren't.
How crazy is PNG so far since 1975.
- Probably 90% of District administration offices and their functions are not in operation in the District anymore and are all brought back into the provincial Towns & the PHQ
- Villagers and Councilors need funding for the Aid Post NOT the Aid Post
- A sick relative from the village call you up, to assist in money for medicine, not medicine
- Children are fed dinner from gambling shelters with whatever food sold on the side, families don't sit around dinner tables or fireplaces and grace before meals anymore
- You beat up a thief breaking into your home, he will bring his relatives the next day to demand for compensation, he can even bring the local peace mediator and leaders to support his cause.
- There is no interest in the young generation to get a proper education, most are lazing around at home giving a hard time to their parents after dropping out of school.
- Personal conduct of MPs is critical, I don't know why some of them frequent Pokies Gambling corners.
- Crimes, Justice & Punishment. They are not related in PNG, not for the rich and politicians.
- Funerals (Hauskrai) have been commercialized. Mega money and wealth transactions and trading happen during this time and it's accepted by the deceased mourning families.
People in the village, know they hold the voting power on the election day, so they give their MPs a hard time. Unfortunately, the MPs dream to retain their seats presents the opportunity for the supporters to entertain their selfish demands.
The significance of MP's as viewed by supporters.
- MPs have unrestricted access to DSIP/PSIP & SME & all other funds that go into the district and province.
- MPs have complete power to decide on how to use/distribute the money.
So, you have 70-80 % of our rural people not interested in proper employment or education or other forms of economical activities because they have easier means to survive from the MP and Government funds.
Coming to think of it, you have all these people completely depending and anticipating on MPs to feed them. This may be stressful as one sees however, the other side of the coin tells a different story, a story of a man who is finally being seen, and needed! and from a nobody to a person of the highest significance on the land. They literally are the Kings and Queens of the domain.
It's quite interesting how our corrupt government and politics created a virtual Monarchy system in the country. Democracy (by the people), Monarchy (for the people), Dual systems operating in harmony, that's a handful of thoughts. Well, I guess it's working, since no one's complaining.
Man, this is getting out of hand. where will it all end up?
I want to think, there is still hope
There is still one good man, one good woman in this country who is fed up with all this and looking to do something. I know I am not alone in this.
Peace.
Brasty
